Maldives water villa w/half board for US$548 per couple in high season
If you are planning a trip to the Maldives in the coming months you are probably all too aware that most resorts are close to full already so they are charging the highest rates of the year. Most are also booked by travel agents who tend to book guests in the same few resorts, so you can actually get a better deal if you book online at one they don't usually work with.
This week's deal is at just such a resort, where the Angaga Island Resort and Spa is offering water villas for only US$548 per night for two people including breakfast and dinner daily. This is a smaller resort that isn't too well known, but it gets really good guest reviews so it's easily one of the best bargains in the Maldives this coming season.
A water villa at the Angaga Island Resort and Spa for only US$548 per night (plus service and tax) for two people including half board.
This rate is only available through Agoda, which is the leader in online deals to the Maldives. The rate includes free cancellation and there is no minimum stay required to qualify, but it's on a space-available basis so you should check your own dates on the Agoda page for the Angaga Resort.
A small resort for adults
The Angaga Island Resort and Spa is among the smaller private-island hotels in the Maldives with only 70 guest rooms. There are 20 water villas and 50 island villas and suites on a small island ringed with a gorgeous beach. While it's not officially an “adults only” resort, it is an unofficial one. There is no Kids Club or swimming pool or babysitting service, which means that families generally go elsewhere.
One thing we've noticed is that a surprising number of guests prefer a resort with no children, but many of them are embarrassed to admit it. When you are paying this much for a hotel room you certainly have the right to the surroundings you prefer, and there's nothing wrong with wanting the peace of an adults oriented resort.
Overwater suites with all the luxury amenities
If you've never stayed in a water villa before you might think it's just a fancy name for a hotel room on stilts over the water. But the “villa” part actually means that these are no ordinary hotel rooms. At the Angaga Island Resort and Spa the water villas are 56 square meters including a large private terrace, and that's about double the size of a standard hotel room.
In addition to the generous outdoor area you get a large bathroom with a bathtub, and even a bathrobe for each guest. The best part might be the glass-bottom coffee table that allows you to enjoy the sea life beneath your villa day and night, but you also get a fridge, coffee/tea maker, and much more. In this price range at this type of year this is probably the best you can get.
