With 75 huge water villas in addition to 19 beach villas, the Residence Maldives is a very luxurious resort. The Residence is a small upscale resort chain that also operates in Tunis, Mauritius and Zanzibar, and their entry into the Maldives has gone well and put them right into the mix among high end resorts.
Each water villa is very large, and almost half of them have their own private pool, and all have a separate bedroom. Personal butler service is available, so this is an ideal choice for visitors who don't want to waste their own time making sure things are just right. Early reviews are amazingly good so this looks like a good one to try for those in this price range.
The Residence Maldives Resort is located 242 miles (390 kilometers) south of the Male International Airport.

**From September 2012, a 55-minute domestic flight from Male will take guests directly to the resort which is a 5-minute speedboat ride away from the new Kooddoo Airport.
A direct transfer from Male Airport to The Residence Maldives is also available via sea plane*, which is a 90-minute journey to Falhumaafushi.
The service and attention to detail get very high marks so it shows that the chains’ experience with opening their other luxury hotels in and around Africa has shown them how to do it right. This resort isn’t cheap, but it seems like it’s going to be one of the finest in the Maldives for those who can afford it.
One word that keeps coming up in reviews is the world privacy. It seems that this resort does a great job providing a private stay for each guest, which to many is a big deal.
