Featuring 20 water bungalows (in a total of 10 structures) in addition to 80 island and beach bungalows, the Velidhu Island Resort is on a small private island that is kept immaculately clean. The house reef is one of the best in the area so snorkelers and divers should be very satisfied.
The Velidhu Island Resort operates primarily on a half-board basis (breakfast and dinner included in the price) with only one restaurant, yet it gets raves for the variety and quality of food, which is rare for a resort in this price category. There's no pool or kid's club so it's best suited to couples and even honeymooners, and the modest prices make this one hard to beat if it has what you are looking for in a resort.
Reviews of the Velidhu Island Resort are overwhelmingly positive, which is rare for a Maldives resort in this price category. Nearly all guests rave about the snorkeling in the house reef alongside the the staff of the Euro Dive Center. The food and the variety of food get high marks, as does the overall cleanliness of the island and rooms as well as the size of the rooms.
For a simple resort with no pool and very moderate prices, the Velidhu fares very well with past guests, many of whom seem to return year after year. In this price range for an all-inclusive this one is hard to beat.
