Maldives’ highest rated water villas resort for under US$600 per night
We usually feature deals at Maldives resorts that feature water villas that are discounted for short periods of time, but it’s rare to find one at the absolute best resorts. Today’s deal is actually extremely special because it’s for the highest rated Maldives resort of all, based on customer reviews.
The Cocoa Island Resort in the Maldives gets essentially 5-star rave reviews from every past guest, so it’s very popular, especially during the high season. But during the summer season the water villas are actually offered at about half the price compared to winter, making this an extraordinary bargain. Most of the better resorts are about 20% cheaper during summer, so saving almost 50% is a big deal.
Dhoni Suite (water villa) for US$536 per night, or a Dhoni Loft Suite (larger water villa with bedroom loft) for US$643 per night based on double occupancy.
The price above is per villa (not per person) based on a 7-night stay during the off season, which is generally June through October in the Maldives. The rate includes 2 free nights in addition to an off-season discount, found only on our booking partner, which is Agoda.com. Check the Agoda page for the Cocoa Island Resort for your own travel dates.
One of a kind luxury
The Cocoa Island Resort is truly a unique property. It has 33 water villas, each of which is shaped like a Maldivian fishing boat, and no other rooms on the small private island. This makes for an exclusive and luxurious resort where essentially all the rooms are deluxe suites.
Each water villa (called Dhoni Suites) is at least 75 m² (807 square feet), and the Dhoni Loft Suites are larger at 110 m², including a loft bedroom area, and are available for only a small price upgrade.
The Dhoni Suites have an interesting look on the outside, but the design is also unique on the inside, with most having full-length glass windows on three sides, plus plenty of privacy. You also get all the luxury amenities you’d hope for, including a separate shower and bathtub, flat-screen TVs, and a private deck leading down into the lagoon.
Perfect honeymoon resort
Many Maldives private-island resorts have kids’ pools and activity centers, but the Cocoa Island Resort has none of that. There are many facilities and daytime activities, including scuba diving, snorkeling, and fishing trips, but this is definitely a couples’ resort made for romance. This is partly why we rate it number one on our list of best Maldives honeymoon resorts.
It also features an excellent spa as well as a yoga pavilion with a resident instructor, so guests can pamper themselves however they like. There’s only one restaurant on the island and one bar, but the restaurant is highly acclaimed with a wide variety, quite unlike what you might get at an all-inclusive buffet restaurant.
