Maldives water villa with half board for US$264 per night in May

MedhufushiMaldivesAerial572When looking for a water villa in the Maldives, it’s amazing the difference a month or two can make in the room rate. The low season for Maldives’ resorts is May through July, and we are already seeing promotional rates that are literally half what they were for stays in April. The weather is more or less the same all year round, so savvy travelers take advantage of the crazy prices like the one featured here.

Right now you can book a water villa at the 5-star Medhufushi Island Resort for only US$264 per night for two people. Better still, it comes with half board (breakfast and dinner daily) so these water villas are about the same price as normal resort hotel rooms elsewhere in Asia or even Europe.

The Deal

A water villa at the Medhufushi Island Resort for US$264 (plus service and tax) for two people including half board. The island villas are only US$167 per night as part of this same promotion, so if you spend part of your holiday in one of those it’s even cheaper.

The Details

This promotion is 30% off the normal low season rate, and is only found through, which is our booking partner. There is no minimum stay required to qualify for the promotion. Guests must be 12 years and older to stay in the water villas. This promotion only runs until a certain number of water villas are booked for each date, so it’s best to check the Agoda page for the Medhufushi Island Resort to see if it’s running.

A stunning lagoon and luxurious villas

Medhufushiwater_villaYou can clearly see in the photos on this post that the Medhufushi Resort has a gorgeous turquois lagoon. It’s a bit shallow for snorkeling, but you can take a short boat trip out to some better undersea scenery so that’s not a problem. The shallow lagoon does make for some amazing coloring, so when you are relaxing in your villa it will be almost hypnotic.

Each water villa here is 60 square meters, making them about twice as large as a typical city hotel room. Of course the key feature is the private veranda out over the lagoon, complete with a Maldivian style swing large enough to do some serious napping on. You also get such luxuries as a separate bathtub and shower, plus a minibar.

The best deal in the Maldives right now

MedhufushiLagoon_suiteWhen we see deals this exceptional it’s natural to be suspicious of the quality of what’s on offer. Read the reviews for the Medhufushi and you’ll see that it’s well above average even in a country like the Maldives where most resorts receive high marks. These exact same water villas are booked solid at over US$600 per night for most of the year, so this rate is a spectacular bargain.

The 30% off promotion won’t go on for long though, so if you are thinking about a trip in May or June you should really consider locking it in soon. Once these resorts fill up a certain number of villas at the promotional price, they go back up to normal prices because it’s not hard to fill the last ones as the date draws near.

I have been to the Conrad Rangali resort and Spa managed by Hilton and a previous Hilton which is old and the service is very slow. The internet does not work that well. I am a Travel Journalist and my birthday and honeymoon is coming up and I am looking for a good deal in a 5 star resort and an over the water bungalow. I also want to be able to get a deal on the seaplane transfer as I think it is way over priced and I have been charged nearly $500 dollars each time for the 30 minute Male to Conrad transfer which was shared by bunch of other people and we stopped along the way a couple of times at different resorts.
