If you're in the midst of planning your tropical honeymoon, then you've almost certainly looked into the Maldives already. This island nation is a great destination for pretty much anyone, but really wows the honeymooning crowd with stunning ocean views, private overwater suites, numerous romantic dining options, and spas that excel with different treatment and massage menus.
You'll also quickly notice that there are plenty of things to do and see at each resort, though the activities listed below are the best suited for the more romantically inclined. Though there are lots of great resort choices throughout the entire nation, if you're looking for the best of the best, you'll want to read through our Editor's Choice: 6 best honeymoon water villa resorts in the Maldives article, after reading through our list of things to do as a honeymooning (or simply romantic) couple visiting the Maldives.
Good afternoon from California, USA.
I’m looking to visit Maldives in August 2021. Can you please tell me the Covid-19 restrictions for Maldives resorts and are all resorts now opened for vacationing??
This will be a family vacation and what is a good recommendation for a family experience there at Maldives?
Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you.
Lorraine
Lorraine,
Maldives reopened its borders to tourists of all nationalities on 15th July 2020. There will be no further incoming travel restrictions to the country. So far there have been very few cases of COVID at any of the resorts and if you are vaccinated you should be fine.
For families I highly recommend Meeru Island, which is among the largest islands and the most affordable for all-inclusives. Since it’s a large island they also offer more pools and activities than most others as well. Have a great trip! -Roger
We are considering a 10 week stay and are avid scuba diverstrying not to break the bank
We don’t need fancy we come for the diving. Any help would help. Where should we be looking for to be close to the diving?thanks Bob Hastings. 🌴🐋🦈😎
Robert,
Ten weeks in the Maldives is an extremely long stay and I’m not aware of any diving resorts that cost less than US$3,000 per week. You might try Indonesia as they have great diving resorts at much more reasonable prices. -Roger
