Featuring a grand total of 392 overwater villas, the AVANI Sepang Goldcoast Resort (known until early 2014 as the Golden Palm Tree Resort & Spa) was considered the largest of its kind in the world until the 2016 opening of the nearby Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson. Reviews were first a mixed bag, but after two ownership changes they have found their stride and this is now the posh resort it was intended to be.

The location very close to the huge Kuala Lumpur International Airport, which is one of Asia's best for affordable flights, has helped to make this resort very popular for people from throughout the region. The smaller water villas are modestly priced, so it should offer very good value compared to the boutique resorts in the Maldives.

WHAT THE REVIEWS SAY

Reviews for the AVANI Sepang Goldcoast Resort were weak for its first few years but have become much more positive since 2014.  Most guests have a very good experience, but others complain about disorganization and long waits for things.

Generally the rooms and the facility get very high marks all around, and it’s the service and speed of those services that seems to be the problem, which isn’t really surprising considering the size of this place.
