There's no getting around the fact that overwater bungalows are expensive, and websites and brochures do the best job they can at showing things in their best light. But since they all make them sound so nice it's hard to be confident that the resort you choose is as wonderful as it's made out to be. For that reason we are collecting the best home-made video tours of every resort possible, so you'll be able to see exactly what the rooms look like when real people stay there.

Recently we highlighted the best Bora Bora overwater bungalow videos, and here is a set featuring the 4 deluxe resorts in Moorea plus 2 more in nearby Tahiti. The Moorea overwater bungalows are in the same luxury category of all but the top few Bora Bora overwater bungalows, while the two Tahiti bungalow resorts are larger family hotels that are quite reasonably priced.

Best video tours of overwater bungalows in Moorea and Tahiti

Guided bungalow tour at the Pearl Beach Moorea Resort

Time: 2:12

Here is a quick tour of an overwater bungalow at the Pearl Beach Moorea Resort. He doesn’t spend as much time inside the room as we’d like, but you can still see that the room is very large and that the bathroom has a nice Jacuzzi tub in it. The dual-level deck outside looks fantastic, though you’ll notice the water isn’t quite as turquoise and still as it as at most resorts in Bora Bora.

Guided bungalow tour at the Hilton Moorea Resort

Time: 1:42

Here’s a quick walk-through tour of an overwater bungalow at the Hilton Moorea Resort. The room isn’t one of the larger ones in the South Pacific, and the bathroom has an old-fashioned claw-foot tub instead of a big Jacuzzi tub, but you can still see how this is a very posh resort. The sofa and the glass-bottom coffee table look extremely tempting as well, and the lagoon at the Hilton looks clear and wonderful.

Guided bungalow tour at the Sofitel Moorea Resort

Time: 1:39

This tour of an overwater bungalow at the Sofitel Moorea Resort doesn’t show the lagoon, unfortunately, but it does show off the fabulous bungalow itself. Honestly, this looks like one of the largest and fanciest bungalows in Moorea, even though the Sofitel actually has the lowest rates of them all. The aerial views of the lagoon indicate that it’s one of the nicer ones as well, so this appears to be excellent value.

Guided bungalow tour at the InterContinental Moorea Resort

Time: 1:44

This video is nicely done, except that the guide is speaking in Spanish and the host is speaking French. Still, it’s easy to understand and see what they are referring to and all the features of the room. You’ll notice that the premium room at the InterContinental Moorea Resort is very large, but perhaps not as fancy as some of the others. The lagoon outside looks fantastic though.

Promotional video of the InterContinental Tahiti Resort

This is a slick and expensive promotional video from the InterContinental Tahiti Resort, mostly consisting of aerial fly-overs of the lagoon and the overwater bungalows, set to a lovely island chill-out track. You don’t get an interior room view, but this is an InterContinental hotel so you know it’s going to be pretty damn nice.

Time: 3:08

Panorama video of the bungalows at the Le Méridien Tahiti Resort

Time: 0:40

This isn’t a great video at all, but it does show the exteriors of the overwater bungalows at the Le Meridien Tahiti Resort, and it’s the best one currently available.

  1. We are looking for an overwater bungalow for 4 people in late June 2019 for one week. We are looking for something in the Caribbean or Fiji areas. Do you have anything that will meet our needs? Thank you!

  2. Would like to stay there in 2020. What are rates between Feb 2020 and October 2020 and name of nearest airport? Thanks

    1. FR,

Hotels don’t typically set rates more than 11 months in advance, but they shouldn’t change much from the same months in 2019. The nearest airport is Fa’a’? International Airport, which has frequent nonstop flights from LAX and is only a few miles from the resort itself. -Roger
