The famed Sandals resort chain is excitingly opening up yet another overwater resort in the Caribbean. Currently, the new resort, Sandals Saint Vincent, is planning on an opening date in March of 2024. With that, reservations are currently open, meaning that if you'd like to be one of the first to visit this 301 room resort that caters with overwater villas titled 'Vincy Overwater Two-Story Villas', then you'll want to reserve your room now. This is because the Sandals overwater resorts in other portions of the Caribbean (Jamaica and St. Lucia) do book up rather quickly. What is going to also make this resort extremely popular, is the fact that it's an adults only all-inclusive resort.

Overwater villa amenities and features

At this resort, you’ll find 15 room categories, with the most intriguing being the Vincy Overwater Two-Story Villas. These rooms offer an unbeatable view of the lagoon and ocean beyond, all while being hugged by the green tropical mountains that surround the entire resort. When looking toward the ocean from inside your villa, you’ll find a terrace that’s equipped with a table and set of chairs and a long hammock that hangs over the water, as you can see from the picture below.

Room amenities also include air conditioning, a king sized bed, a TV with cable, Wi-Fi, a soaking tub and separate shower, a little kitchen area with refrigerator, a wine section, and an in-room bar. You’ll also want to take advantage of the resort’s daily housekeeping and butler elite service.

Things to do and resort activities

In addition to lots of great room choices, both on land and over the water, guests will find themselves privy to 12 different restaurants and 5 bars (including a swim up bar), various outdoor activities, lives shows, and local excursions. The dining options here really do range, which is fantastic as you’ll have lots of different plates and drinks to select from. Some of these options include an ice cream and coffee cafe, a Jamaican restaurant, an Italian restaurant, and a seafood restaurant.

If you’re an avid snorkeler or scuba diver, then you’ll be very happy to hear that there is ample snorkeling opportunities at the Anchor Reef. In fact, guests will find something truly special here – a unique black coral that isn’t found elsewhere in the Caribbean.  If you like the idea of spending some time in water, but don’t feel like snorkeling, you’ll have the option of choosing between 5 different pools and 3 different whirlpools. Locally, outside of the resort, you’ll find waterfalls, jungle hikes, more dining options, and lots of great shopping.

  1. There are 4 of us that would like to depart Seattle and get to Sunshine in January. We were thinking Bora Bora but are wide open. I was wondering if there are any water bungalows that accommodate 4 people but are still affordable?

    1. Theresa,

Most of the Bora Bora resort hotels allow 3 guests per room, but I’ve only heard about a couple that allow 4, and those are the super expensive ones that go for close to US$2,000 per night.

The option that might work are the so-called Brando overwater bungalows, which are privately run and not part of a resort. A couple of them have two bedrooms and they are actually more reasonably priced. Good luck! -Roger

  2. Hi, there is 5 of us wanting to stay closest to Jacksonville Florida (Mom not doing well). That has the bungalows over the water, but HAS to be clear water? Can you help me? I am a disabled vet, and they wanted to do this for me. Thank you, Lisa🌞

    1. Lisa,

The closest real overwater bungalows to Florida are in Jamaica at two different Sandals resorts, but the water isn’t turquoise like it is in Bora Bora and the Maldives. Unfortunately Florida is pretty much half a world away from the ones with clear water. The closest are probably in Tahiti, but if you go there you might as well go to Moorea, which is right next door. -Roger
