Featuring only 5 overwater bungalows alongside 45 other rooms, many of which are also on or near the edge of the water, the El Nido Miniloc Island Resort is a favorite among luxury travelers to the Philippines. This is an eco-resort with few of the modern frills of some of the 5-star resorts in the Maldives, but the local architecture and furnishings combined with the stunning setting make this one of the more authentic and relaxing resorts anywhere.
There are many water sports and activities, including boat tours to other nearby islands, and all of them are included in the price, so there is more value here than you might realize. Service is excellent and the buffet restaurant gets rave reviews, so this small luxury resort is an ideal hotel for honeymoons or romantic getaways. Many visitors combine a stay here with a stay at the sister Lagen Island Resort, which is just a short boat ride away.
The Miniloc Island Resort is located just west of the town of El Nido, which is on the island of Palawan in the Philippines.
Overwater bungalows: 5
Beds: 1 kingsize
Entertainment system: None
Room service: No
In-room massages and other treatments are available.
To reach the Miniloc Island Resort you’ll need to fly to Manila and then take a short flight to the town of El Nido. From there you’ll get ground transportation to the jetty, and then a 30-minute ferry ride to the resort on Miniloc Island itself.
Similar to its sister resort on nearby Lagen Island, the Miniloc Island Resort gets almost universally rave reviews, particularly about its stunning location in a cluster of breathtaking karst islands. Service is regarded as exceptional, and the food at the daily buffet restaurant gets good marks as well, which is rare from a buffet restaurant at a resort.
The price is considered a negative by some, and the rooms are reported to be on the small side and perhaps out of date, but by and large the Miniloc Island Resort is very well reviewed and seems unlikely to disappoint if you are looking for a secluded eco-resort with overwater bungalows.
