There’s good and bad news for those looking for all-inclusive overwater bungalow and water villa resorts, depending on which part of the world you live in. The bad news for many people is that there are no all-inclusive Bora Bora, Moorea, or Tahiti resorts that include all meals and alcohol in the room rate. Everything else is good news because most activities and services are indeed included in the room rate.
However, if you can get to the Maldives, which is home to most of the world’s overwater, all-inclusive, private villa resorts, you’ll have plenty of excellent options that include meals, alcohol, and even premium alcohol in some cases.
Featuring the only all glass underwater restaurant in the entire world, it comes as no surprise that the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort now also has an underwater room to showcase that’s been titled the Muraka. An underwater stay in itself is impressive enough for most, but not for the owners of the resort. They feel that every guest that books a stay in the Muraka should also experience a private flight to their own seaplane jetty, 4 butlers, a private chef, and an on-call fitness trainer among other amenities.
Though the Maldives are known for swaying palm trees, long stretches of white sand beach, colorful reefs, friendly locals and great dining options, the islands are also known for their overwater villa choices. With 4 and 5 star overwater resorts dotting the islands from north to south, east the west, it’s easy to find both comfort and luxury dressed with a touch of privacy. However, if you’re seeking a truly private experience and have the money to pay for it, you’ll want to skip all of the other resorts and instead focus solely on the Maldives Private Island at Voavah.
Set to open at the end of the 2018 year, the Hilton Curio Collection resort is currently under development in the beautiful Emboodhoo Lagoon in the Maldives. This resort will join the large collection of hotels and resorts already owned by the famed Hilton brand and is said to be very large itself, with a total of 198 guest rooms, beach villas, and overwater villas being built. In addition, you’ll want to note that this property will be a part of a much larger property which is being titled the CROSSROADS project.
A beautiful island country situated away from it all and surrounded by crystal clear waters teeming with sea life, the Maldives is widely considered an oasis for all. From palm trees to white sand beaches, from local cuisine to a friendly culture, you’ll find everything you’re looking for in an island vacation, plus much more.
As the Maldives is a hot spot for vacation seekers, there are multiple resorts spread throughout the islands, most on their own private island, vying for your attention and booking.
Newly opened, the Soneva Jani Residences Resort is designed to impress over and over again with rather large ‘rooms’ that are more homes than anything else. A stay at this resort emphasizes fun and adventure and is extremely kid friendly, making it a great option for those traveling with young ones in tow. All in all, guests will find 24 unique overwater suites to choose from, each styled and designed differently from the next.
Guests will also find a plethora of dining options, adventure activities both within the resort and close by as well as a few great resort features that allow you to wind down after a day of fun.
When searching for your next vacation destination, there are several things to consider. If an overwater room is what you desire, you’ll find lots of great 4 and 5-star resorts to choose from.
If you’re looking to take things up a notch and book a room with a private jacuzzi, you’ll still find some great selections.
A choice location plus a beautiful resort equals a vacation destination like none other. The luxurious Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa is one of your best options in the South Pacific with gorgeous views, raving reviews and top-notch activities. However wonderful the resort has been in past years, it’s now getting a makeover and name change promising to make it even better than before. In fact, this makeover is a rather large one with a few million dollars of refurbishments and design alongside a brand new name. From here on out, the resort is now known as the Conrad Bora Bora Nui.

The Maldives has close to 90 resorts that feature water villas, and about 15 of those offer full-board and/or all-inclusive plans. For years I’ve been comparing them all as I work on this online guide to overwater bungalows, and I frequently noticed that Meeru Island was among the cheapest water villa resorts in the Maldives, and also had some of the best guest reviews.
Stranger still, Meeru Island has all guests on a full-board plan, or they can upgrade to what they call the “All-Inclusive Plus” plan for a surprisingly modest fee.
