Maldives 5-star water villa with half board for US$358 per night

MedhufushiMaldivesAerial300As the December and January peak season in the Maldives approaches, it’s getting more challenging to find really outstanding bargains, but certainly not impossible. This week’s deal is for a highly rated resort that is still offering water villa rates close to the off-season rate, even in October and November.

The Medhufushi Island Resort is currently offering its water villas for US$358 per night for two people including breakfast and dinner daily. This half-board rate is several hundred dollars cheaper per night than you’ll pay in December, so it stands out as one of the best bargains going right now.

The Deal

A Water Villa at the Medhufushi Island Resort in the Maldives for US$358 (plus service and tax) per night for two people including half board.

The Details

This rate is only available through Agoda, and it includes free cancellation. There is no minimum stay required to qualify, but availability is limited to dates in October and November. It’s best to check your own dates on the Agoda page for the Medhufushi Island Resort to see if the rate still applies.

Interesting use of outdoor space for a tropical holiday

Medhufushiwater_villaThe Medhufushi Island Resort has 46 water villas plus 66 island suites and villas, and the rooms here are quite unique in several ways. You’ll understand yourself once you watch the video tour of a water villa on the resort page linked in the Deal section above. But to sum it up, these water villas have a relatively small air-conditioned bedroom area, with huge veranda and bathroom areas that take advantage of the tropical climate.

It’s always warm in the Maldives, so most people prefer to spend most of their time outdoors. These water villas each have a huge bathroom with a rain shower and oversized bathtub in separate areas, so you can feel the luxury and privacy and the tropical air at the same time. Each veranda las a large swing on it that is perfect for relaxing and gets sunshine at least several hours each day.

A stunning lagoon below

MedhufushiLagoon_suiteAnother interesting feature about this resort is that the water villas are perched over one of the clearest lagoons in the Maldives. While this does mean that you have to take a short boat ride in order to reach the more interesting snorkeling and diving spots, it also means that you can splash around below your water villa like you are in the world’s largest salt water swimming pool.

Of course the Medhufushi Island Resort has a top-notch spa as well as two restaurants and one bar. They bill themselves as a 5-star resort even with a 4-star price tag, so you can expect excellent service and no cutting of corners like you’d find at one of the more popularly priced family resorts.

I was interested in more information for september 2014

    • Roger Wade says:

      Nicole,

The rates for this September and September 2014 should be similar, but it’s not wise to book this early. Most resorts keep their prices fairly high until about 4 months out when they start discounting them. So research now but don’t book before next April or so if you want to get the best rates. -Roger

I’m looking for a cheap overwater bungalow with full board for April/May, any thoughts for these months?

    • Roger Wade says:

      Jeferson,

Those are the cheapest months in Bora Bora, Moorea, and Tahiti, and Tahiti in particular has some affordable options in overwater bungalows. The problem is that they don’t do full board at any of those resorts, although breakfast is often included. Your best bet is the Maldives for full board or all inclusive, and April and May are pretty slow months there as well. Have a look at the Maldives section of this website and you’ll see many choices for narrowing your search down. -Roger
