Luxury Maldives water villa with half board for US$475 per night for two
Now that the peak travel season in the Maldives (the weeks around Christmas) is behind us, we are finally starting to see some interesting deals that were not available just a few weeks ago. Starting in May, even though the weather is basically the same all year in the Maldives, room rates start to go down and can be literally half what they are in winter.
Today’s deal is for a huge water villa at the Filitheyo Island Resort in the Maldives for only US$475 per night for two people, including breakfast and dinner each day. The resort gets excellent reviews and it has all the activities and luxury services you could want, so it’s absolutely one of the best deals in the Maldives at the moment.
A Water Villa at the Filitheyo Island Resort for only US$475 per night (plus service and tax) for two people with half board. This rate is available for stays starting in May.
This promotion is only available on Agoda.com, which is our booking partner, and by far the leader in Maldives resort bookings. Guests must be at least 12 years old in order to stay in the water villas. There is no minimum stay required to get this rate, but it’s subject to availability and when the villas are mostly booked, the rate will go up for the remaining villas. It’s best to check your own dates on the Agoda page for the Filitheyo Island Resort to see if the promotion applies.
4.5-star luxury, and great diving
The water villas at the Filitheyo are enormous at 146 square meters including the large private terrace with steps down into the lagoon. You’ll notice from the photos that a key feature is the large Maldives-style swing out on the terrace, which is where many guests end up spending hours each day just relaxing in the tropical breezes.
The resort has a swimming pool, windsurfing, canoeing, volleyball, table tennis, and a long list of other activities, but the diving and snorkeling are the focus. The Werner Lau Diving Center at the Filitheyo is among the best in the Maldives, and the nearby reefs are as well.
Excellent value in this category
We have featured the Filitheyo Resort several times before because they are among the most aggressive when it comes to cutting rates in the slower season. These same water villas go for around US$800 per night in the high season, and over US$1,000 per night in the peak season. Many Maldives resorts wait another month or two before they realize that they aren’t going to get those same high rates in May or June, but this one knows better.
Considering that you get breakfast and dinner included daily, this brings the cost of a water villa here down to a level that many of us can actually afford. The island villas start at only US$213 per night, so you can save even more money by spending 3 or 4 days in one of those and 3 or 4 days in a water villa. Doing this also gives you an improved chance of getting upgraded to a water villa for more than the days you pay for, so if you get lucky it could be an even more amazing bargain.
