Large 5-star Maldives water bungalows at US$823 per night in high season
The upcoming high season in the Maldives (December through March) seems to be going well for the resorts, as few of them are offering promotional rates on water villas. One notable exception that we uncovered for this week’s deal is the Velassaru Maldives Resort, which is offering its water bungalows for US$823 per night for two people.
This is one of the most respected 5-star private island resorts in the Maldives, and last winter their high season room rates started at just under US$1,000 per night, so this is nearly a 20% discount. You can certainly get cheaper water villas at other resorts, but it’s unlikely they’ll be near this level of luxury.
A water bungalow at the Velassaru Maldives Resort for US$823 per night for two people, including breakfast.
As usual, this promotional rate is only offered through Agoda.com, which is our booking partner and the best source of Maldives reservations. The deal includes free cancellation, but it’s subject to availability, so booking soon is advised. Check your own travel dates on the Agoda page for the Velassaru Resort.
Stylish and luxurious water villas
At 80 square meters, the water bungalows at the Velassaru Maldives Resort are the size of a large apartment in a city, and several times larger than a typical hotel room. This includes the private sundeck with steps leading down into the turquoise lagoon below, but also plenty of interior room to spread out.
There’s a kingsize bed plus a separate sitting area, and a huge bathroom that has a separate bathtub and shower. You also get all the best 5-star amenities like bathrobes, LCD TV, minibar, in-room safe, DVD player, coffee/tea maker, and even free Wi-Fi. Watch the video room tour at the bottom of the resorts page on our site and you’ll see that these rooms are a big step up from most nearby resorts here.
An ideal couples resort
Many Maldives resorts have Kids Clubs and kiddie pools, but the Velassaru is more designed for adults and romantic couples. There are 5 restaurants and bars, plus private dining, and also a long list of water sports options including excellent scuba diving, but usually few or no children around. This is a big plus for many people without their own children.
There’s also an excellent luxury spa on the island, and plenty of perfect sand on the beaches, so everyone can find their own way of relaxing. Another advantage here is that it’s relatively close to the main airport so guests arrive on a fast speedboat ride while many others are still waiting for remote sea planes to come get them.
