Enormous Maldives water villa for US$455 for two, with half board
Late December is the busiest time of the year in the Maldives, so those who visit during the period will pay the highest rates. But if you can make it at least a couple weeks earlier than that, you can still find some pretty incredible deals on water villas. Right now you can book a water villa at the Filitheyo Island Resort for only US$455 per couple per night, but it's an even better offer than you might think.
The water villa includes breakfast and dinner each day, and almost everything else in the resort is included in the room rate, so guests only need to pay for lunch and alcohol. And better still, the water villas at this resort are larger than most homes around the world, at 146 square meters including the private deck. You'll normally have to visit in June to get this much luxury at this kind of price.
A Water Villa at the Filitheyo Island Resort for only US$455 (plus tax and service) for two people on the half board plan. The Superior Villas on the island start at only US$306 (plus tax and service) per night with half board.
This rate includes a 25% discount that is only available through Agoda.com. The rate is valid for late November and early December as of this writing, but when a few more water villas get booked, the rate is certain to go up for the rest. There is no minimum stay required to qualify for the rate, but availability is limited so it's best to check the Agoda page for the Filitheyo Resort for your own dates.
Huge and remote water villas at a low-season price
With only 16 water villas to go along with its 109 island villas, the Filitheyo Island Resort is among the more remote private-island resorts in the Maldives. And the water villas themselves are a bit remote, only accessible from a long wooden pier leading from the swimming pool area on the island. Fortunately, guests have so much room that they rarely need to venture off.
Each water villa is an amazing 146 square meters (over 1,500 square feet) including the private terrace, making them some of the largest in the Maldives. Much of the area is outdoors, including a semi-enclosed bathroom that includes a large Jacuzzi bathtub. There are also daybeds out on the terrace so guests can relax in the warm tropical breezes in privacy.
Excellent diving and other water activities
One of the other benefits of this remote location is that the resort is in a prime area for diving and snorkeling with almost no crowds. The pro dive center at the Filitheyo Island Resort is one of the best in the area as well, catering to all levels including pure beginners.
The resort also has a swimming pool (with a swim-up bar) and a luxurious spa, just as you'd expect. They also have a gym for those who struggle to relax when they visit the tropics, as well as sailing, windsurfing, and even volleyball. In this price range you'll be lucky to get even an island room at most resorts, so if you are planning a trip soon this is definitely one to check.
