Best Bora Bora & Moorea deals for December: Overwater bungalows from US$436
As long as you don’t need to be in Bora Bora during Christmas week itself, the island offers good value even though the weather continues to be nearly perfect all year round. December is one of the more affordable months in Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora, and overwater bungalows in Bora Bora are actually available at (a bit) under US$500 per night, which isn’t true most of the year.
In Moorea the deals are even a bit better, as is usually the case, so those with tighter budgets should probably consider the first resort on the list below for only US$436 per night. These same suites (they are all essentially suites rather than rooms) will cost about US$200 more per night during June, July, and August, so savvy travelers like to take advantage of the deals for a December visit.
Best Bora Bora and Moorea overwater bungalow deals in December
Moorea Pearl Resort & Spa
Overwater bungalows from US$436 per night for two people
The most affordable overwater bungalows in the Bora Bora/Tahiti area in December can be found at the Moorea Pearl Resort & Spa, which is part of a luxury chain with a several other locations on nearby islands. The resort has 8 overwater bungalows in addition to 20 premium overwater bungalows, with the difference being the position on the lagoono and the views.
The December rate we found is close to their annual low for prices, so this one stands out as an excellent deal this time of year. Among the better features is a glass floor section to check out the sea life beneath your bungalow, as well as a 2-level private deck with steps leading down into the lagoon below.
Sofitel Bora Bora Marara Beach Resort
Overwater bungalows from US$496 per night for two people
The best overwater bungalow deal on Bora Bora itself can be found at the Sofitel Bora Bora Marara Beach Resort, which has 24 units out over their turquoise lagoon. Each overwater bungalow has a kingsize bed in addition to a sofabed, so they actually sleep three very comfortably.
Each unit is over 500 square feet plus 215 square feet of a private terrace, so they are close to 3 times the size of a standard hotel room in a city. In other words, these are luxurious suites that just happen to be out over the water. The resort itself is luxury standard and it gets great reviews, so this December rate really stands out for its value.
Le Meridien Bora Bora
Overwater bungalows from US$602 per night for two people
A bit more expensive with arguably an even better lagoon below, the Le Méridien Bora Bora has 85 overwater bungalows that are all loaded with luxury amenities. You get the glass floor section like in most of the others, as well as a separate bathtub and shower in an oversized bathroom.
While this is an older resort for Bora Bora, it also has perhaps the best location of them all as a result. It’s just off the southern tip of the main island, with excellent views of the volcanic mountain at the center from most units. There’s also a highly regarded spa, and two acclaimed restaurants, in addition to a wide variety of water sports and other daytime activities.
