5-star Malaysia overwater bungalow for US$241 per night per couple
In these weekly deals posts I normally feature the Maldives and the South Pacific because that’s where the majority of overwater bungalows are located, but those aren’t the only places. In fact, the largest overwater resort by far happens to be located in Malaysia just south of the Kuala Lumpur Airport.
With 392 overwater bungalows, the Golden Palm Tree Iconic Resort and Spa, which only opened a couple years ago, has not only a lot to offer but also some of the best deals anywhere. Right now you can get one of the their large 5-star overwater bungalows for only US$241 per night for two people. If you are already going to Malaysia it’s a fantastic deal, but even if you weren’t planning on it this is something to consider.
A Premier Travelers Palm Villa at the Golden Palm Tree Iconic Resort in Sepang, Malaysia for only US$241 (including all taxes and fees) per night for two people. The resort has many larger units with up to 3 bedrooms at higher prices.
This rate is available on Agoda.com, our booking partner and the best source of Asia hotel discounts. The rate comes with free cancellation and there is no minimum stay required to qualify, but availability is limited so it’s best to check your own dates on the Agoda page for the Golden Palm Tree.
A different kind of luxury resort
Even though the Golden Palm Tree is near the equator, it is not located on a volcanic lagoon so it’s not exactly like the resorts in Maldives or Bora Bora. But that said, it is a new and 5-star resort that offers incredible value as well as comfortable rooms. Even the smallest water villas are 52 square meters including a private terrace, and that’s about double the size of a city hotel room. In other words, these are overwater suites.
Each water villa also comes with luxury amenities such as a sofa and chair, refrigerator, flat-screen TV with premium movie channels, in-room safe, and even bathrobes for each guest. The resort itself has dozens of water sports and other activities available, most of which are included in the room rate.
The most affordable overwater bungalow holiday anywhere
If you have a virtually unlimited holiday budget you’ll honestly be best off in the Maldives or Bora Bora, but if you are like most of us in that an overwater villa is just at the edge of what we can afford, this resort is fantastic news. Not only are the room rates very low compared to most global resorts, but it’s the cheapest and easiest to reach by plane as well.
One of the frustrating things about the Maldives or Tahiti is that flights to get there are already very expensive from where most of us live, and it costs even more to get to each resort as well. But the Golden Palm Tree is a short taxi ride away from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, which has cheap incoming flights from everywhere. If your dream is to spend 3 to 7 days in an overwater villa then when you add up all the costs this one is going to be the most affordable option.
