Tahiti Over Water Bungalow for US$321 per night in June
As June marks the traditional opening to the high season for hotel rates all throughout the South Pacific, finding deals that sound even a little tempting based on price can be a challenge. But with a relatively weak economy we thought it would be worth checking to see if any resorts are offering “last minute” deals for June, and we found a very nice one.
The Le Méridien Tahiti Resort normally has Over Water Bungalows starting at just below US$400 even in low season, but bookings must be a bit light in the weeks ahead because right now they are offering the rooms for only US$321 per night. This is a solid 4-star luxury hotel with a great location in Tahiti, so it could be a wonderful little holiday even for someone who hadn’t been thinking about one.
An Overwater Bungalow at the Le Méridien Tahiti Resort for selected dates in June for US$321 per night for two people.
The one qualifier for this rate is that it’s only good on stays of at least 5 nights, so you’ll pay US$535 per night for a shorter stay. The deal is available through out booking partner – hotels.com – with free cancellation and a Price Match Guarantee.
Four-star luxury at half the price of most similar resorts
Again, during the high season you’ll normally have to pay US$500 to US$700 for even these overwater bungalows, and close to double that at most of the resorts on Bora Bora. The Le Méridien Tahiti only has 12 overwater bungalows in addition to their 137 island and beach rooms and suites, so finding availability isn’t always easy, but when they do have vacancies this is one of the best deals in the entire South Pacific.
Each overwater bungalow comes with a queen bed plus a sofabed, and of course a private deck overlooking the crystal-clear lagoon below. There’s a separate bathtub and shower in the spacious bathroom, which also comes with bathrobes and slippers. There’s a minibar and an in-room safe, plus all the small extras you’d expect at an international luxury hotel such as this.
An endless list of activities and a convenient location
With a total of 149 rooms, the Le Méridien Tahiti is one of the larger luxury resorts on Tahiti, and with that size you get an extremely impressive list of things to do. Obviously there’s the beach and the swimming pools, plus diving and snorkeling and windsurfing, but since Tahiti is the largest island in French Polynesia it also offers things like go-carts, horseback riding, 4X4 mountain safaris, circle island tours, hang gliding and much more.
Another thing to love about this resort is that it’s one of the closest to the main Tahiti International Airport, and also relatively close to the main city of Pape’ete. This means that you can get from the airport to the resort in only around 15 minutes, which is a wonderful feeling after such a long flight. You can also go explore Pape’ete and check out the shopping, dining, and nightlife scene there, which is not only interesting but also cheaper than staying at the resort.
