much speculation, Sandals Resorts have finally announced the dates when visitors are expected to be able to stay in their overwater bungalow suites, and unfortunately it's quite a bit later than we had hoped. The folks at caribbeannewsdigital.com interviewed Sandals' CEO recently who said that the groundbreaking on the 26 overwater bungalows is scheduled for August 15, 2012, and the opening to the public of the suites is February, 2013.
FEBRUARY, 2017 UPDATE: Sandals has opened 17 overwater bungalows at their Royal Caribbean Resort in Montego Bay and they have finally officially announced that the Sandals St. Lucien Resort will soon be getting its own overwater bungalows.
Do you have to have a passport?
Yes, if you arrive from another country you’ll need a passport to enter Jamaica, even if you are a Jamaican citizen. You don’t need a passport to enter Puerto Rico if you are American, but unfortunately there are no overwater bungalows there. Sorry. -Roger
Can Any one provide me with construction company’s contact or number
GTM,
You’d be better off contacting a resort directly. We are simply an online guide to resorts. -Roger

Rute,
You’ll want to contact Sandals about this. They have a phone number on their website. -Roger
Yes they are being constructed, I have a friend who is working on the environmental side of the project and I have seen pictures of them under construction, can’t give a finish date though.
Dianne,
It turns out they just announced that they plan to offer them as of November 15, 2016, which is great news. Thanks for the update. -Roger
are they ready yet?
Shadi,
We haven’t heard anything new, unfortunately. I was even in Montego Bay last summer and heard nothing. These Caribbean overwater bungalows never seem to get going, although the ones in the Riviera Maya area will open on September 1, 2016. -Roger
