Deluxe water villas at new Maldives resort for US$552/night with half board
While some people prefer older resorts that have stood the test of time, many of us love hotels where everything is new, and this week’s deal is for us. You may not know about the Centara chain of hotels unless you visit luxury properties in Thailand on a regular basis. That chain just opened their second Maldives resort earlier in 2013, so everything is still in perfect shape.
Right now you can book a Deluxe Water Villa at the Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa Maldives for only US$552 per night for two people including half board (breakfast and dinner daily). Better still, that’s the rate in high season, subject to availability, so it’s one of the few resorts where you can get something like this for under US$800 or so.
A Deluxe Water Villa for two people with half board at the Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa Maldives for only US$552 (plus tax) per night.
This rate is only available through Agoda, our booking partner, and it includes a 20% Early Bird discount. This rate is non-refundable, but if you aren’t sure you can book the same room for US$690 per night with the option to cancel. The rate is only available for periods where the resort isn’t mostly booked, so it’s best to book early and check your own dates on the Agoda page.
New and modern water villas
While at 42 square meters, these are the largest water villas in the Maldives, but they are quite a bit larger than a standard hotel room, and everything is new. That means you get large LCD TVs with international channels, free Wi-Fi, and a DVD player. Each bathroom also has a heavenly rain shower in an oversized bathroom, and steps down into the lagoon from the private terrace.
Even though there are only 140 total villas (64 of them overwater), the resort has 7 restaurants and bars to choose from. They have the standard buffet, but also and Italian place and a Thai place. There’s also a swimming pool with its own bar, plus a long list of water sports and of course a luxury spa.
Convenient location not far from the airport
One of the reasons I recommend this resort to quite a few people is that it’s only 12 kilometers from the Male International Airport. As a result, it’s one of the shortest speedboat rides to the resort, and it’s also available 24 hours a day. This means you can land on your international flight and be swimming in the turquoise lagoon only a bit more than an hour later.
Most Maldives resorts are only accessible by sea plane, and unfortunately this is quite an expensive part of the trip, usually around US$500 per person round trip. The 18-minute speed boat ride to the Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa costs only a fraction of that amount, making it a good choice for shorter trips and even weekend stays.
