As of now, the Royalton Antigua Resort & Spa is set to open in May of this year, which is extremely exciting as it'll be the island's first overwater resort. On top of that, the overwater rooms here are adults-only, making it a charming Caribbean accommodation for honeymooners, romantically inclined couples, or parents just looking for a vacation away from the kids.

This particular resort is located next to (and in) Deep Bay, which allows guests fantastic views of the lovely Caribbean Sea. Overwater room features

Each of the one bedroom overwater rooms is decked out from top to bottom with calming hues of tans and whites alongside large windows that allow for an unparalleled view of the Caribbean ocean. You’ll also find an in-room movie selection, complimentary laundry service, butler service, a twice daily refreshment service for your in-room minibar, snorkeling gear, room aromatherapy, welcome gifts, glass floors that allow for underwater viewing without having to jump into the ocean, a sitting area, and luxury bath amenities presented in your private bathroom that features a jacuzzi tub.

 

Once you walk out to the back terrace, you’ll instantly notice the private infinity plunge pool, in floor hammock, and steps that lead directly into the ocean below.


Resort features and amenities

Outside of the luxurious overwater rooms, you’ll find plenty of amenities that will help you feel like royalty. Firstly, you’ll find the Royal Spa where you can easily spend several hours being pampered like a king or queen. Or, if you don’t have time for a spa day, you can drop in for a quick 30-minute express treatment. If night life is your thing, you’ll be pleasantly surprised that this resort caters with a private casino. This casino impress with a variety of slot machines and table games, meaning that you’ll have no problem finding something you enjoy.

 

You’ll also find plenty of water sports, wedding and honeymoon packages, a gift shop, tours, and different fitness classes. For the foodies visiting, the resort offers several different restaurants and themed bars in addition to a coffee shop serving a nice selection of different cold and hot drinks. If you don’t want to sit down at one of the resort’s restaurants, you’ll find the resort’s room service to be very accommodating.

    1. Yes, if you arrive from another country you’ll need a passport to enter Jamaica, even if you are a Jamaican citizen. You don’t need a passport to enter Puerto Rico if you are American, but unfortunately there are no overwater bungalows there. Sorry. -Roger

  1. Yes they are being constructed, I have a friend who is working on the environmental side of the project and I have seen pictures of them under construction, can’t give a finish date though.

      We haven’t heard anything new, unfortunately. I was even in Montego Bay last summer and heard nothing. These Caribbean overwater bungalows never seem to get going, although the ones in the Riviera Maya area will open on September 1, 2016. -Roger
