Anantara Veli Resort & Spa – Maldives
With a total of 50 overwater bungalows and no other rooms, the Anantara Veli Resort & Spa is more private and secluded than the Anantara Dhigu Resort located on the next island. The overwater bungalows are large and luxurious, with the Deluxe ones offering extras like a bathtub-for-two that could make a honeymoon even more memorable.
The location is a tropical paradise, and even better you can take a 2-minute boat ride to the other resort to get a wider variation of restaurants and daytime activities. This is a 5-star resort in every sense, and a perfect choice for a romantic getaway or any special occasion.
The Anantara Veli Resort & Spa is located 21 kilometers south of the main island of Malé in the Maldives.

What the reviews say
Similar to its sister resort, the larger and more family-oriented Anantara Dhigu that is located on the next island, reviews for the Anantara Veli Resort are almost all very positive. Most guests are extremely pleased by the location and the overwater bungalows, and this hotel seems particularly well suited to honeymoons since it’s more private and less child-friendly than the other one.
However, there are always people who are disappointed, and it’s not too hard to find reviews from other people who didn’t feel the resort lives up to its reputation or price. Still, with the overwhelming number of reviews being very positive, it feels like you’d be unlucky to experience most of the negative things that a few people bring up.
To reach the Anantara Veli Resort & Spa you’ll need to fly to the main Malé International Airport in the Maldives. From there you’ll be met by hotel staff who will put you on a private speedboat for the 35-minute ride to the small island where the resort lies.
